Dynamic Island is exactly the type of innovation that the recent phones were missing! It's exciting, beautiful to look at, and full of functionality. I'm due for a phone upgrade and this is the perfect excuse for it, but it annoys me that it's a feature exclusive to the "pro" models, while the regular 14 is really not much different than the one before... Obviously, they want more people to get used to spending more money and buying the Pro, but I think if the whole 14 line came with the dynamic island, it would be a real game changer! Curious to hear your thoughts...
Yeah it's not clear yet what the limitations are, but totally agree it seems like a marketing strategy. I have the iPhone 12 Mini, and I'm hesitant to upgrade because I love the smaller size, which wasn't even an option this year!
Maybe there is some way the placement of the hardware behind the screen affects how the UI is displayed, but I haven't looked closely enough. Maybe down the road they might find ways to bring it to older models, but I'm less confident about that.
I've been curious about the mini since it came out, but I guess I'll never experience it unless they bring it back again! Do you see yourself going back to the regular size unless it's really necessary?

Yeah that was probably the biggest surprise of the entire presentation. Software is much easier to keep under wraps.

Love the Mini, just mainly for its size. I just checked and the difference in height is .63 in, so maybe it's not as bad as it used to be.
I pre-ordered the 14 Pro just to see how it feels. I may be swayed by the new cameras + Dynamic Island features.
